6-O-Feruloylsucrose is a phenylpropanoid glycoside that has been shown to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The 6-O-feruloylsucrose inhibits microbial infections by binding to metal cations, which are essential for bacterial cell wall synthesis. This leads to a decrease in the production of microbial cell walls, inhibiting their growth. 6-O-Feruloylsucrose can be used as an additive in food products or as a preservative in cosmetics.
