Product Information
1,4-Diethynyl-2-fluorobenzene is a molecule made up of two benzene rings. The molecule contains one phenyl group on each ring and has an equilibrating dipole moment. Friedel-Crafts acylation with triflic acid or benzoylation with chloride will convert the 1,4-diethynyl-2-fluorobenzene into a monomer that can be polymerized to produce poly(1,4-diethynyl-2-fluorobenzene). This polymer has a chromophore that interacts with light in the ultraviolet range. The constant for this polymer is about 50 - 60 kJ/mol. High concentrations of 1,4-diethynyl-2-fluorobenzene have been shown to cause constant interactions with styrene monomers, which leads to a change in the interaction energies between them.
