- 5-Quinoxalinecarboxylic Acid, 3-Phenyl-
3-Phenylquinoxaline-5-carboxylic acid is an antitumor agent that belongs to the group of tricyclic compounds. It has been shown to be a mutagen and a potent solubilizing agent in vivo. 3-Phenylquinoxaline-5-carboxylic acid is a member of the class of salmonella typhimurium strain, which is an antitumor compound that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice. The compound also inhibits the production of DNA and RNA by binding to DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and other enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. It is metabolized into a number of metabolites with different activities, including 3-(2'-hydroxyethyl) quinoxaline 5-carboxylic acid (HEPQCA), which has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties.
