Dorsmanin A is a natural product, isolated from the plant Dorsmanthus erythropappus. It is a chalcone that has been shown to have antiproliferative effects on cells in culture. Dorsmanin A is not active against P. aeruginosa, but inhibits the growth of the human cancer cell line NCI-H460 with an IC50 of 400 uM. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and induce apoptosis, as well as its inhibition of protein synthesis.
