Polygalasaponin V is a saponin compound that has been shown to have significant anti-inflammatory activity. Polygalasaponin V inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reduces the expression of inflammatory genes in vitro. In vivo studies have shown that Polygalasaponin V can inhibit neutrophil infiltration, decrease levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and reduce inflammation in the lungs. This compound also has protective effects against depression and sugar residues in tissue culture cells.
