4-Hydroxymidazolam-b-D-glucuronide is a metabolite of flurazepam that is found in human urine. It is a benzodiazepine with hypnotic, sedative, and anticonvulsant properties. 4-Hydroxymidazolam-b-D-glucuronide is the major metabolite of flurazepam in humans. It has a half life of about 24 hours, which is much longer than that of the parent drug. Flumazenil is an antagonist for benzodiazepines and can be used to reverse their effects. The elution profile for 4-hydroxymidazolam-b-D-glucuronide was found to be similar to that of flumazenil on a NovaPak C18 column using liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (LC/FLD) at 254 nm.
