Product Information
- 4-Iodo-N-methoxy-N-methylbenzamide
- Benzamide, 4-iodo-N-methoxy-N-methyl-
4-Iodo-N-methoxy-N-methyl-benzamide is an anilide that can be activated with a variety of nucleophiles. The nucleophile reacts with the electron-deficient aromatic ring, displacing the halogen and forming a benzyl ether. This reaction proceeds through a three-step mechanism involving nitriles, organic chemistry and mechanistic studies. The regioselectivity of this transformation is determined by the presence or absence of electron withdrawing groups on the aromatic ring. 4-Iodo-N-methoxy-N-methylbenzamide is used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds that are used in medicine, such as antipsychotics and antidepressants.
