Description

1L-chiro-Inositol is a combination preparation that contains 1g of inositol and 1g of myo-inositol. Inositols are a group of sugar alcohols, including myo-inositol, chiro-inositol, and d-chiro-inositol. They are found in the cell membranes, where they act as secondary messengers. Deficiency symptoms include low levels of inositols and kidney injury. Inositols have been shown to be effective against ischemic preconditioning and can reduce glucose transport by binding to the insulin receptor. The effects of inositols on gpcr activation has been investigated using rat urine as a model system. This compound also inhibits squamous cell carcinoma cells by preventing calpain activation.
