Product Information
2-(4-Amino-phenoxy)-benzoic acid methyl ester is an antiviral drug that inhibits the replication of viruses by interfering with the synthesis of viral proteins. It has been shown to be effective against herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, cytomegalovirus, and varicella zoster virus. 2-(4-Amino-phenoxy)-benzoic acid methyl ester binds to the basic protein in the virus envelope, preventing it from fusing with the host cell membrane and entering the cell. This prevents production of new virus particles, thus inhibiting infection. The ventricular mass index (VMI) is a measurement of heart size and is used as an indicator for cardiac hypertrophy. The VMI was found to increase linearly with fatty acids in blood pressure (BP). This may be due to the fact that fatty acids are structural components of cardiac myocytes and their abundance correlates with cardiac hypertrophy.
