(2R)-2-benzhydryloxirane is a chiral, synthetic, inhibitor compound that has been shown to be a serotonin transporter uptake inhibitor. It has been found to inhibit the uptake of serotonin by binding to the serotonin transporter. The drug also inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine. (2R)-2-Benzhydryloxirane is metabolized in vivo through hydroxylation and oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes. It also binds to diphenylmethane and can be used as a biomimetic model for this molecule.
