Product Information
4-Isopropyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazole is a metabolite of the insecticidal agent chlorobenzene. It has been shown to induce centrilobular necrosis in rats and, when administered orally to mice, showed hepatotoxicity with centrilobular hepatocyte degeneration. 4-Isopropyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazole can be demethylated by cytochrome P450 enzymes to form 3-methylcholanthrene and epoxides, which can react with oxygen to form hydroxyl radicals. This process may result in oxidative stress as well as damage to liver cells.
