1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-6-amine is a cytotoxic and antiviral drug that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer. It also has anti-HCV activity against human hepatoma cells and bowel disease. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-6-amine is a fluorinated compound with a hydrophobic character that is resistant to metabolic degradation. It binds to RNA polymerase II and blocks the synthesis of viral DNA by interfering with the transcription process. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the replication of both RNA virus and DNA virus. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-6-amine may be used as an antiviral agent for herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2), Epstein Barr virus (EBV), HIV, influenza
