Methimazole is a drug that inhibits the synthesis of thyroid hormones by blocking the action of thyroperoxidase. Methimazole thio-b-D-glucuronide is a non-toxic, water-soluble derivative of methimazole. It is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyrotoxicosis.
