4-(4-Bromo-3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester is an ester compound that has been used to treat inflammatory bowel disease. The mechanism of action is not yet clear, but it may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). 4-(4-Bromo-3,5-dimethyl-pyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester has also been shown to be effective in treating cancer and other inflammatory diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. It is a synthetic drug with a liquid chromatography method for identification.
