JNK inhibitor IX is a small molecular weight compound that inhibits the activity of the JNK enzyme. This inhibition prevents phosphorylation of proteins, which in turn blocks cell death. JNK inhibitor IX has been shown to reduce autophagy, lipid kinase, and growth factor expression. It also enhances autophagy and reduces cell proliferation in prostate cancer cells. In addition, it has been shown to be effective against pediatric and fetal bovine models of brain injury as well as myeloid leukemia cells in vitro.
