It is a white or light yellow crystalline solid that has been used as an absorber for rubber, polyester, and other organic solvents. This compound has been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies with leukemia cells in mice and rats. Quinovic acid 3-O-(3',4'-O-isopropylidene)-b-D-fucopyranoside also induces bone resorption in animals.
