Product Information
- 5-(Methylsulfonyl)indoline
- 5-Methylsulfonyl-2,3-dihydroindole
2,3-Dihydro-5-(methylsulfonyl)-(1H)-indole is a potent carbonyl compound that is an agonist of the insulin receptor. It has been shown to decrease plasma glucose levels in rats by stimulating the secretion of insulin from pancreatic beta cells. 2,3-Dihydro-5-(methylsulfonyl)-(1H)-indole is structurally similar to the drug glibenclamide, but with a methyl group in place of a hydrogen atom on the nitrogen atom. This modification may be responsible for its increased potency. Due to its structural similarity to glibenclamide, 2,3-Dihydro-5-(methylsulfonyl)-(1H)-indole may also have other pharmacological effects such as lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
