Product Information
4-(3-allylthioureido)benzamide (TTZ) is a compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. TTZ inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing transcription and replication. The drug also inhibits protein synthesis in cells, which may be due to its ability to bind to 16S ribosomal RNA. TTZ is effective against multidrug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis and M. avium complex, including those resistant to rifampin and isoniazid. TTZ has been used as a research tool for evaluating the connection between bacterial plagues and resistant strains of M. tuberculosis.
