Description:
D,L-o-Desmethyl venlafaxine is an active metabolite of the antidepressant drug venlafaxine. It inhibits the reuptake of both serotonin and noradrenaline by blocking their respective transporters in the presynaptic neuron. This may lead to a decrease in depressive symptoms. The mechanism of action of desvenlafaxine is unclear but it has been shown to have similar effects to venlafaxine and d,L-D-desmethylvenlafaxine, which also inhibits serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake.
