Description

2,3,5-Tri-O-benzyl-L-arabinofuranose is a benzyl ester of an anomeric mixture that can be prepared by hydrogenolysis of 2,3,5-tri-O-benzyl L-arabinofuranose. It is an experimental compound that may be used for the synthesis of optical anomers or as a starting material for the preparation of other compounds. The reactivity of the carbonyl group in this compound is determined by the steric hindrance from the benzyl esters. This compound also has chloride and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid esters.
