3'-Amino-3'-deoxythymidine (3ADT) is a nucleoside analog that inhibits the growth of some viruses by being incorporated into new viral dna. 3ADT has been shown to be effective against Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 and 2 (HSV-1, HSV-2). 3ADT has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in cells infected with HIV. This drug also stabilizes complexes with other drugs such as acyclovir or vidarabine, which are used to treat herpes infections.
