Product Information
- 9-(2-Amino-2-deoxy-b-D-ribofuranosyl)-hypoxanthine2'-Amino-2'-deoxy-D-inosine
2'-Amino-2'-deoxyinosine is a purine nucleoside that is synthesized enzymatically. It is used as an antiviral agent and to inhibit RNA synthesis, which prevents protein production. 2'-Amino-2'-deoxyinosine inhibits the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase by chemically reacting with it. This reaction also produces a toxic metabolite, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8OHdG), which damages DNA and causes cancer. The enzyme ribonucleotide reductase is involved in the process of converting ribose into deoxyribose sugars, which are then converted to purines and pyrimidines.
