3'-Amino-5'-O-p-anisoyl-N4-benzoyl-2',3'-dideoxycytidine is a synthetic nucleoside that inhibits DNA synthesis by competitively inhibiting the activity of deoxycytidine kinase. 3'-Amino-5'-O-p-anisoyl-N4-benzoyl-2',3'-dideoxycytidine is an antiviral agent and has been shown to be effective against herpes simplex virus type 1 and varicella zoster virus. It has also been shown to have anticancer properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells in culture.
