3-Acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide (3APAD) is a biochemical molecule that is involved in the regulation of energy metabolism. 3APAD participates in transfer reactions, such as the conversion of ATP to ADP, and catalyses enzyme activities, such as polymerase chain reactions. 3APAD has been shown to be a potential drug target for the treatment of diseases with an inflammatory component, such as rheumatoid arthritis. 3APAD inhibits the activation of toll-like receptors and blocks the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The methyl ethyl group on 3APAD may be important for its ability to activate a redox potential and regulate cellular function.
