Product Information

Name:
L-Methionine-(methyl-d3)
Synonyms:
  • L-Methionine-methyl-d3
Description:

L-Methionine-(methyl-d3) is a high-throughput analytical reagent for the detection of methyltransferase activity in fatty acid metabolism. This product is used to analyze and measure the methylation of carnitine and choline, which are essential to the synthesis of hemoglobin and phospholipids. L-Methionine-(methyl-d3) has been shown to have a high concentration that can be used in ultraperformance liquid chromatography (UPLC). The sample preparation process involves adding the reagent to a fatty acid sample incubated at temperatures above 50°C. The reaction that occurs is called alkylation, which results in the formation of a new compound called coproporphyrin III. L-Methionine-(methyl-d3) has also been shown to be effective in detecting methyltransferase activity in animals, such as rats and mice.
