Product Information
2-Chloroisophthalic acid (2CPA) is a monomer that is used as a dyestuff for textile products. It has been shown to be light resistant and can also be used in the production of polyester films. 2CPA has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cells and can be used as a cross-linking agent in the production of polyester. This compound also has antibacterial properties due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria by disrupting hydrogen bonds with fatty acids, hydroxyl groups, and intramolecular hydrogen bonds. 2CPA has been shown to have antitumour activity against cancerous cell lines in vitro, with no cytotoxic effects on healthy cells. 2-Chloroisophthalic acid is produced synthetically or by reacting diacids such as succinic acid with chlorine gas at high temperatures.
