Chloroacetaldehyde sodium bisulfite is a nonpolar solvent that has been used as a surrogate for chloroform. It was used to isolate the anti-inflammatory drug 4-aminoantipyrine from coal tar, and in the synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. Chloroacetaldehyde sodium bisulfite is also used as an organic solvent and an enantioselective method for the synthesis of chiral triazoliums. This compound has been shown to be synthetically operational and can be synthesized using an inorganic base and an inorganic oxidant.
