Description:

4-Aminobenzene-1,3-diol is a polymer conjugate that consists of 4-amino-3-hydroxybenzoic acid and 2,2'-sulfanilic acid. It is activated by the hydrolysis of the ester bond between the two components. The 4-aminobenzoic acid component can be oxidized to an amine salt or form an amide with amino acids. The sulphanilic and schistosomiasis activities of 4-aminobenzoic acid are due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth. This drug may also be useful for viscosupplementation, strain relief in subchondral bone, and for osteoarthritis treatment.
