2-(2,3-Dihydro-1H-indol-3-yl)acetic acid is a medicine that is used to treat diabetes mellitus. It is an inhibitor of carbohydrate metabolism and has been shown to improve the symptoms of diabetes by decreasing the amount of glucose in blood plasma. 2-(2,3-Dihydro-1H-indol-3-yl)acetic acid also inhibits the activity of alpha cells in the pancreas and can cause insulin secretion. This drug has a risk for side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite and weight loss.
