Product Information
- Tetrahydroquinolinecarboxylicacid
1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinoline-4-carboxylic acid is an aluminum salt that is used as a co-catalyst in the production of propylene oxide. The 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline ring is opened by addition of lithium aluminum hydride or aluminum hydride to produce a carboxylic acid. This reaction can be performed in the absence of solvent and at low temperatures because it does not require water. The methylene group on the tetrahydroquinoline ring is cleaved during this process to produce formaldehyde and methanol. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinoline-4-carboxylic acid also has immune modulating properties due to its ability to react with nitrous acid to form a nitrosating agent.
