Description:

2,4,6,8-Tetraoxanonane is a reactive chemical that has been shown to have the potential to react with glyoxal in a model system. The reaction between 2,4,6,8-tetraoxanonane and glyoxal was found to produce three products: formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acetic acid. The kinetic rate of the reaction is affected by temperature. It was determined that the reaction only occurs at temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius. The equilibrium constant of this reaction is unknown because it has not been fully investigated. 2,4,6,8-Tetraoxanonane has a vapor pressure of 1.3 x 10-3 torr at 25 degrees Celsius and an oxygenated ternary mixture phase diagram has been created for it.
