Description:

2-Ethyl-5-methylpyrazine mix 2-ethyl-6-methylpyrazine (EMPM) is a mixture of two substances, which are used as analytical reagents. EMPM is soluble in diethyl succinate and is insoluble in water. The solubility can be increased by adding amide to the solution. The solubility decreases with increasing pH. The solubility of EMPM can be increased by adding maltol or ethyl linoleate to the solution. This mixture has been shown to react with nitrogen atoms on a surface, forming an analyte profile that can be detected by solid phase microextraction (SPME).
