Hexyl cyanoacetate is a nitro, trifluoromethoxy, polymerization inhibitor that has been shown to have antifungal activity. Hexyl cyanoacetate inhibits the growth of fungi by absorbing UV radiation and preventing the formation of reactive oxygen species. It also inhibits ethylene synthesis and fatty acid biosynthesis in plants. Hexyl cyanoacetate also has antihypertensive activity as well as an effect on blood vessels.
