N-[(2-Chlorophenyl)methyl]-1-phenylpropan-2-amine is a drug that belongs to the group of amphetamine analogues. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of metabolic disorders such as alopecia areata. This compound inhibits the activity of protein synthesis by binding to the enzyme RNA polymerase II, which catalyzes the transcription of DNA into RNA. N-[(2-Chlorophenyl)methyl]-1-phenylpropan-2-amine also inhibits sodium citrate metabolism, which may result in decreased urinary acidification and increased citrate excretion. In addition, this drug has been shown to inhibit inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
