Product Information
- C-(1H-Imidazol-4-yl)-methylamine
- 1H-Imidazole-5-Methanamine
- 1-(1H-imidazol-4-yl)methanamine
4-(Aminomethyl)imidazole is a ligand that binds to the linker region of the DNA polymerase and inhibits its activity. This drug has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 4-(Aminomethyl)imidazole interacts with histidine residues in the linker region of DNA polymerase, which are required for helicase activity. The binding of 4-(Aminomethyl)imidazole to these residues prevents ATP from binding and leads to thermal denaturation of the enzyme.
