Terbium nitrate hexahydrate is a compound of terbium, nitrogen, and oxygen with the chemical formula Tb(NO3)3. It is a salt that crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. Terbium nitrate hexahydrate has been shown to exhibit photocatalytic activity through the use of light irradiation. This compound absorbs light and produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can oxidize organic substances such as chloride or methylene blue to produce different products. Terbium nitrate hexahydrate also has coordination chemistry properties due to its phosphate group and hydrogen bonds, which allow it to absorb light at wavelengths ranging from 300-800 nm. The average particle diameter of terbium nitrate hexahydrate is 100-400 nm and it is soluble in deionized water. Terbium nitrate hexahydrate’s optical properties are dependent on its particle size; at sizes below 100 nm
