Product Information
- Copper (II) fluoride hydrate
- Copper(II) fluoride dihydrate
- Copper Fluoride Dihydrate
Copper(II) fluoride dihydrate is a copper(II) salt of hydrofluoric acid with the chemical formula CuF2•2H2O. It is an inorganic compound that is used as a catalyst in organic synthesis and as a laboratory reagent for the preparation of hydrogen peroxide. Copper(II) fluoride dihydrate has been shown to be more reactive than other copper fluorides. The crystal structure was solved using x-ray diffraction techniques and it was found that the nitrogen atoms are involved in ligand bonding to the copper ion. Copper(II) fluoride dihydrate can be synthesized by reacting hydrogen peroxide with magnesium, then adding silicon dioxide and copper oxide. Chemical analyses of samples prepared in this way show no impurities and have been shown to have good crystallinity. This compound has also been studied extensively by synthetic chemists who use it as a starting material for their work on ligands.
