Ytterbium(III) sulfate is a chemical compound composed of ytterbium and sulfur. It has the chemical formula YbSO4. The molecular mass of this compound is 395.87 grams per mole. Ytterbium(III) sulfate is an insulator with a high melting point and low vapor pressure. It also fluoresces in the near ultraviolet region, emitting a blue-green light at around 420 nm when excited with visible light of wavelength 380 nm. Ytterbium(III) sulfate is stable in liquid hydrochloric acid, but reacts with hydrogen peroxide to form water and ytterbium oxide (YbO).
