Product Information

Name:
Methyl 4-methylpicolinate
Synonyms:
  • 2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid, 4-Methyl-, Methyl Ester
  • Methyl 4-methylpyridine-2-carboxylate
Description:

Methyl 4-methylpicolinate is a dienes with a high yield. It is an inhibitor of polymerization and has been used to treat liver diseases. This chemical has been used as an agrochemical, but it also has been shown to be useful in the production of medicines. Methyl 4-methylpicolinate can be synthesized from 5-bromonicotinic acid and methyl acetoacetate. This chemical inhibits polymerization by reacting with the oxide ion and preventing it from reacting with the double bond of the monomer.
Methyl 4-methylpicolinate is an inhibitor that suppresses the activity of aralkyl and prevents it from binding to other molecules, thereby inhibiting reactions that are necessary for polymerization.
