N-Ethyl-4-chloroaniline is a colorless, oily liquid that is soluble in water and has a sweet odor. It is an aliphatic hydrocarbon and an aromatic hydrocarbon. It can be used in the production of acrylonitrile and ethylene chloride. This chemical reacts with amines to produce nitroamines. N-Ethyl-4-chloroaniline also reacts with dimethylamine to produce chlorobenzyl amine, which is a byproduct in the production of propylamine. It reacts with cycloaliphatic compounds to produce naphthalene.
