Description:
4-(Benzyloxy)-1-methyl-1H-indole is a basic organic compound that can be used to synthesize other compounds. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells, and has been found to have specific activity of 4.6 μM (micromoles) per mg. The yield of this compound is about 11%.
4-(Benzyloxy)-1-methyl-1H-indole may also be used as an imaging agent for detecting apoptosis in living cells. The compound is added to the cell culture medium, and the cells are then observed using an imaging device capable of detecting fluorescence. This allows researchers to observe the effects of different treatments on the cell cycle by measuring the level of green fluorescence emitted by the cell.
