6-Methoxyquinoline-3-carbonitrile is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of fungi. It is used as a fungicide in agriculture and to control fungal infection in humans. 6-Methoxyquinoline-3-carbonitrile has been shown to inhibit the growth of gram negative organisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The compound also inhibits the growth of gram positive organisms, such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.
