Methyl 2-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzoate is a nitroarene that can be synthesized by the reaction of phenol with methyl chloroformate. Methyl 2-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzoate can also be used to catalyze transfer hydrogenation reactions, which are important for organic synthesis.
