Description:

Neodymium(III) fluoride is a chemical compound with the formula NdF3. It is a colorless, odorless solid that is stable at room temperature. Neodymium(III) fluoride reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form neodymium(III) hexafluoroplatinate and hydrogen gas. The reaction rate increases as the concentration of hydrogen fluoride increases. Neodymium(III) fluoride has been used in the synthesis of other intermetallic compounds such as ferrocene and nickelocene. This compound can be obtained by electrolysis of an aqueous solution of neodymium chloride or neodymium nitrate. Neodymium(III) fluoride has also been used in the transport and transfer of anions such as nitrate, chloride, sulfate, and phosphate ions.
