Product Information

Name:
1,4,6,7-Tetramethylnaphthalene-D3
Synonyms:
  • Naphthalene, 1,4,6,7-tetramethyl-
Description:

Tetramethylnaphthalene-D3 is a compound that reacts with singlet oxygen and produces a hydroperoxy radical. The reaction is catalyzed by the presence of oxygen, air, and light. Tetramethylnaphthalene-D3 has been shown to react with allylic radicals in an exo fashion to produce endoperoxides and quantitatively yield 1,4,6,7-tetramethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (TETN) and 1-methylnaphthalene (MN). The rate constants for the reactions are determined by substituents on the reactant. These compounds have been used to study the reactivity of singlet oxygen in oxidation reactions such as attack on polymers or volumetric measurements.
