Product Information
Iodomethyl benzoate (IB) is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, such as those that line the epidermis. IB binds to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and inhibits its response to various stimuli, including epidermal growth factor. IB also inhibits a protein known as NF-κB, which is involved in inflammatory responses and cell proliferation. Results from animal studies suggest that IB may be effective against polycystic ovarian syndrome, an endocrine disorder characterized by enlarged ovaries. The anti-inflammatory effects of IB are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide.
