2-tert-Butylpyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde (2BP) is a potent, selective inhibitor of DNA polymerase that is expressed in the tibia during bone development. 2BP has been shown to inhibit platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-induced angiogenesis in mouse calvaria and animal research models. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of basic fibroblasts and cancer cells in vitro.
