Product Information
(2-Bromophenylethynyl)trimethylsilane is a compound that is used as a source of trimethylsilyl groups. It is also used as a starting material in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It can be synthesized by cycloaromatization of naphthalene with ethynylmagnesium bromide, followed by hydrolysis of the resulting magnesium 2-bromophenylethynylcyclohexane. The cycloaromatization reaction is initiated by illumination with ultraviolet light or by heating to 80 degrees Celsius. The reaction products are naphthalene, ethylene, and hydrogen bromide. This method is efficient and generates high yields with minimal side reactions.
