Description:
1,2-Dichloro-4-methylsulfonylbenzene is a sulfone that is used as an industrial chemical. It is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to its active form, methyl sulfone. Methyl sulfone has been shown to inhibit intestinal microflora and the activity of certain cytochromes, such as hydroxylase, drug-metabolizing enzymes. 1,2-Dichloro-4-methylsulfonylbenzene has also been shown to inhibit the growth of rat liver microsomes in vitro.
