1-(2-Chloro-ethyl)-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole is a ligand that binds to the metal palladium and forms a complex. This complex is used as a catalyst in different organic reactions, such as ethylene polymerization and hydrogenation. The ligand is bidentate and can serve as a monodentate or bidentate ligand depending on the reaction conditions. It has been shown to catalyze the formation of palladium complexes with ethylene, which are then used for ethylene polymerization. 1-(2-Chloro-ethyl)-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole can also be synthesized from pyrazole and chloroethane.
